Questions & Answers

Questions about true fruits

Does true fruits have a factory shop?

No. Unfortunately, at our company size we just don’t have the manpower to run a proper factory shop. We can’t manage it yet, either in terms of staff or storage space. That’s why everything goes through our logistics partner, where all our smoothies can be kept chilled.

Are you really based in Bonn, and how many people work there?

Yes, we’re based in Bonn. In Bonn-Beuel, in the old wallpaper factory, to be precise. This is the heart of the company, so to speak: product development, internal sales, logistics, purchasing, accounting and marketing. We’ve outsourced all our production and prefer to leave the craft to the professionals. Altogether, we’re a team of 31 companions + Buddy the office dog..

Who writes the texts at true fruits? Are you really on mushrooms when you do it?

We often find the backs of bottles boring, so we write all sorts of memorable stuff on them – to amuse ourselves and make you smile. And because we get asked this so often: no, we don’t need anything to smoke for it. We’re just weird!

So how do you actually develop new products?

In a nutshell, the process goes like this: first, we order and taste loads of different fruit purées – all the ones we fancy. Then we mix them into smoothie prototypes, taste them, try them out and taste them again. Until the flavour and colour are right (that’s super important – after all, we bottle in glass). Then the first test runs are done at our bottler (meaning the finished recipe is mixed in larger quantities and filled into bottles for the first time – which is a different thing from the mini batches in our test kitchen). Then the lab analyses are done. At the same time, the marketing department gets going: photo shoots, bottle texts, print designs, PR and so on and so on… From development to market launch, it can easily take a year.

Why are you called true fruits?

Because we didn’t want to give ourselves a made-up name like fruitylicious or bananabuddies – we just wanted to call the product what it is. No tricks, basically… We simply liked true fruits best. It’s a nasty tongue-twister – we notice that every day on the phone – but speech therapists have confirmed it’s good practice ;)

Why is everything in glass?

Despite its obvious disadvantages (heavy, breakable, more expensive), we made a conscious decision to go with glass bottles back in 2006. In our view, it’s simply the best packaging material. Why? Unlike PET, glass doesn’t interact with its surroundings. That means glass is like a safe. It doesn’t absorb any flavour and it doesn’t give any off. AND glass is just plain beautiful! We go to great lengths to choose only the best fruit for our smoothies and take particular care when processing it. So it would be inconsistent not to choose the best packaging too, wouldn’t it? Other types of packaging like plastic or cartons are of course cheaper & lighter, but they also come with a number of drawbacks. Only glass preserves the flavour and quality of the smoothies much longer than plastic bottles, for example. Glass also allows considerably more hygienic filling than plastic bottles, which extends shelf life while preserving nutrients. What’s more, glass is made exclusively from natural raw materials (for anyone who wants the details: 70% quartz sand (SiO2), 13% soda ash (Na2CO3), 10% lime (CaCO3) and small amounts of dolomite, feldspar and a little potash) and is 100% recyclable. Used cullet keeps being turned into new glass in a closed loop, which is then used to make beer, wine or – you guessed it – smoothie bottles. Ours, by the way, are made of 45–50% recycled glass. And if you think the bottle’s too good for the bottle bank… how about upcycling?

What does your claim “true fruits – no tricks” mean?

We were fed up with loud, garish packaging and drinks that taste like shower gel. We wanted natural products. Without additives or any other frills. That’s how our philosophy came about: in everything we do, we try to manage without tricks. It’s often hard work, but we think it’s worth it! For our products, we rely on 100% natural ingredients. Concentrates, added sugar, colourings and all that other rubbish don’t go in our bottles! And we skip the tricks elsewhere too: you won’t find any surprises in the small print, and we’ll even spare you the usual marketing blah-blah. true fruits products won’t make you more beautiful, richer or more intelligent, nor will they improve your gut flora (although…). We guarantee you true fruits – no tricks. Nothing more – but nothing less, either.

Why doesn’t true fruits do sponsorship?

We’re sorry to tell you that we don’t do any sponsorship at all. We get several requests every day, and it’s become impossible to handle them all. We’re not a big corporation – we’re a proper little juice shop with 31 people in Bonn-Beuel. We don’t give away free products either. But we’re happy to make you an offer if you need larger quantities for an event or similar. In that case, please get in touch at vertrieb@true-fruits.com

Your store doesn’t sell true fruits, or a particular flavour is missing?

Retailers aren’t big risk-takers – they won’t add products to their range if they can’t gauge the demand. So it makes sense to actively ask the shop staff for our products. If they notice there’s demand for a product, they’ll stock it.

Questions about true fruits smoothies

What is a smoothie?

A smoothie is a so-called whole-fruit drink. In other words: puréed fruit. To make it drinkable, we mix about 50% fruit purée – whole puréed fruit (minus skin and seeds) – with about 50% not-from-concentrate juice. We think nothing that isn’t natural belongs in a smoothie. That’s why our fruit smoothies are made of 100% fruit. Nothing else! By the way, we also have a smoothie with vegetables (yes, it tastes good). Take a look here.

Do you pasteurise your smoothies – and doesn’t that destroy all the important vitamins and nutrients?

Yes, our smoothies are gently pasteurised to give them a longer shelf life. This is necessary so that germs, bacteria or other harmful elements don’t merrily keep multiplying in the smoothies. But unlike the usual method, we heat our smoothies using a flash pasteurisation process we developed ourselves – so very briefly and gently. Straight afterwards, they’re cooled down again in a cooling tunnel. Thanks to this gentle pasteurisation and the fact that our fruit ripens fully on the tree or bush in its country of origin (rather than “finishing” ripening during transport with the help of ripening gases, as is often the case with exotic fruit), most of the nutrients and vitamins are retained. Of course, some are lost during pasteurisation, but as our regular tests show, it’s only a small amount.

Are true fruits smoothies vegan?

Yes. Our smoothies and juices are 100% vegan. To make our smoothies, we only use fully ripened ingredients and naturally cloudy juices that never come into contact with animal products like gelatine or similar.*

Just between us: egg white or pork gelatine to make naturally cloudy apple juice clear? Who comes up with this crap???

*In the industry, using pork gelatine to clarify fruit juices is a common and approved practice. We don’t do it!

Why doesn’t true fruits use returnable bottles?

Returnable or deposit bottles don’t make sense for us yet, either ecologically or economically. We’d have to have our design glass bottles collected from supermarkets all over Germany by a specially hired logistics company and then have them cleaned. That would mean a lot of CO2 emissions. At our current production volume, it’s more environmentally friendly to dispose of the bottles via the closed loop of the bottle banks. So you don’t need to feel guilty about putting the bottles in the bottle bank, because the old cullet is reused to make new glass. According to our bottle manufacturer, the bottles really are 100% recycled. Our bottles, for example, are made of 45–50% recycled glass.

Are true fruits smoothies better than homemade?

Homemade smoothies have one wonderful advantage: there are no limits to your creativity! Whether it’s avocado, mango with pineapple and a hint of lemongrass, or chanterelles, schnitzel, garlic croutons and cream sauce – YOU AND YOU ALONE decide what goes in and how it tastes. But of course, you’re limited to whatever fruit your supermarket has on offer. We’ve built up some good connections in Asia and Latin America who supply us with fruit you can’t usually get hold of here, like cupuaçu, acerola, goji, pink dragon fruit or guanábana. So from true fruits you get the quality you’re used to: 100% natural ingredients – no tricks – and exotic, unusual fruit. Plus, we obviously take the stress of “buyingthefruitcarryingithomewashingpeelingchoppingblendingcleaningupandputtingeverythingaway” off your hands. But sure, blending your own is fine too ;-)

How long can I keep your products once opened?

You don’t have to drink our smoothies in one go – you can finish them over two or three days. Our smoothies are purely natural products, so you’ll quickly notice whether a smoothie or juice is still good, because our products contain nothing but pure fruit or pure greens. We don’t put any unnatural nonsense like colourings, stabilisers and so on in our bottles.

What can I do if the smoothie separates in the bottle?

Sometimes the fruit or greens in our smoothies separate in the bottle. But that’s not a problem at all. On the contrary, it’s actually a sign of quality, because we don’t use any stabilisers. Colourings, additives, stabilisers and the like are out of the question for us – and out of the bottle. No tricks! So the best thing to do is give our bottles a good shake before drinking, just like your favourite bartender does with your favourite cocktail.

But you should never bang on the lid if the smoothie has separated a little in the bottle. This can cause a so-called “mousehole” in the glass bottle and the bottle can burst – a cute word for such a big mess. Broken glass might bring luck, but the smoothie would end up all over you and the floor. That would be a shame – both for the smoothie and for your clothes & co.

I’m looking for a particular bottle text. Can you help me find it?

Every four weeks, we write a new bottle text for each flavour. So we often get asked where you can find or buy particular bottle texts. But each flavour sells at a different rate. That means the supermarkets, petrol stations and so on where you can buy our smoothies reorder new stock (and therefore new texts) at different times. So all we can tell you is whether the text you’re after is a current one or an older one. That lets us estimate whether you’ll still find it in the shops. If you still can’t find the bottle, or the text is no longer available in the shops, try asking in our Facebook group “true fruits Smoothies – Für Flaschensammler” (for bottle collectors). There you can swap notes with other bottle collectors and maybe find the text you’re after.

Can I drink your smoothies during pregnancy?

First of all, congratulations! Now comes a time when you’ll have to give up a few fun things: alcohol, cigarettes, raw mince rolls. But there’s one thing you don’t have to give up: our smoothies, because they’re gently pasteurised. What’s more, our own gentle pasteurisation process preserves as many vitamins and nutrients as possible. You can see this impressively in the vitamin C content of the true fruits smoothie orange: 264 mg = 330% of the recommended daily intake. As always with our smoothies: true fruits – no tricks. Because no concentrates, added sugar, preservatives, added water, colourings or stabilisers go into our bottles.

Why are true fruits smoothies so expensive?

Expensive is relative :-) – but seriously: high quality simply matters to us. Lots of companies claim that, but we mean it: our unusual and exotic fruits, which are anything but boring mass-produced stuff, ripen right to the end in the sunshine on the tree or bush, so they develop lots of sweetness and vitamins instead of being picked too early and ripening in containers. In our processing (which, by the way, has won awards from the DLG, Öko-Test and others), we also make sure to preserve as many nutrients and vitamins as possible. Packaging is a quality factor for us too. That’s why we bottle our smoothies in the best-quality packaging material there is: glass. It seals everything in tight, like a safe. That means the bottle doesn’t give off any flavour or absorb any. With its simple but beautiful ceramic print, our packaging costs about 5x as much to produce as a PET bottle or a Tetra Pak carton.

Why don’t the sugar and carbohydrate values match in the nutrition information?

In many of our smoothies, the carbohydrate content doesn’t match the sugar content. That’s because, as well as fruit sugar (fructose), many fruits also contain some starch. Starch counts as a carbohydrate but not as a sugar. If you’ve read this answer all the way to the end, you’re either a nutritionist or a nerd. Either way, we like you – don’t let anyone get you down ;-)

Where does the fruit you use come from?

Our smoothies are a real melting pot, because the fruit comes from all over the world. Our Kesar mango, for example, comes from India; cupuaçu and acerola can only be found in South America; we source our passion fruit from Ecuador; our apples, on the other hand, come from various traditional orchards in Baden-Württemberg; and goji is found almost exclusively in China. Because so much of our fruit travels such a long way, we make a point of having it processed into purée or pulp right where it’s grown – rather than, as is often the case, being harvested half-ripe, ripened in gassed shipping containers and then processed further in Germany. And because we let our fruit ripen on the tree or bush right to the end, it naturally tastes much, much better too.

Why isn’t your fruit organic?

Our fruit isn’t organically certified, because organic doesn’t always mean better. In everything we do, quality comes first – and if the organic fruit or greens taste better, as with our organic matcha, for example, then that’s great, we’re happy and we buy it organic.

Why is there banana in almost every true fruits smoothie?

We get asked about bananas a lot, so they’ve earned a spot here in our Q&A. There’s banana in almost every smoothie because it makes the smoothie sweet and creamy, so there’s no need to add any sugar at all. That’s also a mark of a good smoothie: no added sugar, no concentrates, no stabilisers and no other additives either. Just fruit – nothing more, but nothing less. Banana also helps the fruits bind together so they don’t separate as much. But we do have a smoothie without banana too: our Smoothie orange is banana-free.

Are there true fruits smoothies without banana?

We love bananas & we love puréeing them, but yes, we also have smoothies without banana. Have you tried our Smoothie orange yet? It’s free from those bendy things.

How do you get orange-peel skin?

Quicker than you think if you’re not careful: just look in Rewe, Edeka or Real.

Where does your orange peel come from?

Our orange peel – or rather the purée (we only use the aromatic zest & not the bitter white pith) – comes from juicy Spanish oranges. By the way, we had this purée specially produced for our Smoothie orange with help from the confectionery industry (which has been using citrus peel on a large scale for a very long time), because it simply didn’t exist on the market yet. Our oranges are “treated”, but we have our ingredients tested regularly & the residues are well below the legal limits. That matters to us too: after all, we like drinking our Smoothie orange ourselves. Cheers!

Why do you use so much apple in your smoothies?

We only use natural ingredients for our smoothies – no artificial frills end up in our bottles. We rely on a range of different juices & purées. Apple juice gives our smoothies a nice consistency and means you don’t have to eat them with a spoon.

Can true fruits glass bottles be used for preserving/pickling?

Sure they can! But to make sure nothing goes wrong, there are a few things to bear in mind:

1. Warm the bottles before putting them in the hot water so the temperature difference isn’t too great.

2. Fill the bottles as high as possible (that makes it easier to create a vacuum).

3. Just rest the lids on the bottles – don’t screw them on fully (otherwise the lid might fly off in your face).

4. At the end of the preserving process, though, screw the lids on tightly and turn the bottles upside down for a few minutes so that any germs in the top part of the bottle are killed too.

Happy preserving!

Where can I buy true fruits smoothies?

In Germany, you’ll find our smoothies in well-stocked supermarkets (e.g. Rewe, Edeka, Tegut, Kaiser’s, etc.), at selected specialist retailers (e.g. Karstadt, Kaufhof) and at petrol stations (e.g. Aral, Total). In Austria, you’ll find us at Meinl am Graben, among others, and in Switzerland at Spar, Coop or Migros, for example. We’ve also made it to two of our favourite holiday destinations: in Spain, you can grab our smoothies at Carrefour, and in France at E.Leclerc, for example.

Got suggestions for where you’d like to buy our smoothies? Bring them on. We’ll head out and try to make your wishes come true. The best thing to do is send an email to: vertrieb@true-fruits.com

I’m addicted – now what?

If you show signs of addiction, we always recommend counter-therapy (like the hair of the dog the morning after a big party) – just keep on drinking. If you can no longer cope with your addiction on your own, we’ve set up an addiction helpline especially for cases like yours: 00800 55 88 55 22 – free of charge, of course.

Questions about Green Smoothies

What is a Green Smoothie?

Unlike a pure fruit smoothie, a Green Smoothie also contains finely puréed greens. Our Green Smoothie, for example, contains kale and spinach (which, by the way, tastes better than you’d think). But Green Smoothies aren’t a miracle elixir that will instantly make you slim, beautiful & rich.

Our top 5 – what to bear in mind when blending a Green Smoothie

1. You can vary the ratio of fruit to veg to suit your taste: 85% fruit to 15% greens – the light version; 60% to 40% for a gentle kick; or the hardcore mix: 50% to 50%. The more fruit you add to the greens, the sweeter your Green Smoothie will be.

2. Blend your liquid ingredient (juice, coconut milk, nut milk) with the leafy greens first. That way you avoid little green lumps. Only then add the rest of the fruit and superfoods.

3. If your Green Smoothie is still too bitter for you, you can use natural sweeteners like sugar beet syrup, apple syrup, agave syrup or stevia. But a banana will do the job too!

4. Freeze some of your fruit. This is a great tip especially for overripe fruit (brown bananas, soft plums) to save it from the bin. (Works with leafy greens too – just pop them in a freezer bag.) When it’s time to blend, just put the fruit in the blender frozen, together with the liquid. That way you instantly get an ice-cold smoothie that doesn’t just taste good but refreshes you too.

5. Once blended, it’s best to pour your Green Smoothie straight into an airtight glass bottle (e.g. an empty true fruits bottle :-). In the fridge, your homemade smoothie should keep for about 2–3 days. But it’s best to drink it straight away.

Optional: pimp it with wild herbs like ground elder, dandelion or nettle (but only 2–3 leaves or so).

How do I make my own Green Smoothie?

If you’re really in the mood for “buyingthefruitandvegcarryingithomewashingpeelingchoppingblendingcleaningupandputtingeverythingaway” and/or your trusted dealer is out of true fruits Green Smoothies, here’s a little “how to make a Green Smoothie” guide for you:

1. Put two full cups of leafy greens in the blender (for example: lettuce, spinach, kale, cucumber, herbs).

2. Add two cups of water (or another natural liquid ingredient such as coconut milk, nut milk, juice or tea) and give the blender some power. Blend until there are no more green lumps to be seen. That can take a little while.

3. Now you can add three cups of fruit of your choice to the blender, as the mood takes you. Blend until your creation is nice and smooth. Done! Cheers!

What are superfoods?

The Oxford English Dictionary defines “superfood” as “a nutrient-rich food considered to be especially beneficial for health and well-being”. Other sources describe “superfood” as an extremely nutrient-rich food, packed with vitamins, minerals and nutrients. Whatever! What matters is: superfoods pack a punch. What counts as a superfood? Just read the next question…

What superfoods are there?

Lucuma, maca, matcha or moringa – sounds like the basic vocabulary of some ancient language, but it isn’t. Behind these names lies concentrated power. Namely the so-called superfoods, which have an above-average nutrient content.

One of our favourite superfoods, for example, is matcha. Not only because our tea growers Mr Okuda & Mr Miyagi supply us with the best matcha in all of Japan, but also because matcha is incredibly nutrient-rich and has countless health-promoting properties. That’s why we’ve given our Green Smoothie a pinch of matcha – we don’t want to overdo it (and more simply doesn’t taste good).

So what is this “matcha”?

Matcha is a particularly fine type of tea and was brought to Japan about 800 years ago by Buddhist monks as a drink for meditation. The organic matcha in our Green Smoothie also comes from Japan – from the Uji region, to be precise – and is grown in Mr Okuda’s tea garden. The variety we use is called “Chofuku”, which means something like “long happiness”. Matcha has an invigorating effect and a balancing effect on the metabolism, because as well as caffeine it also contains natural antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. You’ll find even more about matcha in our fruit encyclopaedia.

Why did you choose a green bottle?

Like all our products, the Green Smoothie comes in a simple glass bottle. But to make it visually different from our other five fruit smoothies, we went for green glass. Firstly, we wanted to make it clear that the greens smoothies are a new category for us, so nobody gets confused. Another reason was the old saying: you eat with your eyes first. People mostly buy things that look bright and vibrant. The green glass gives our tasty smoothie a helping hand – without it, it wouldn’t be bright green but more of a “spinach” shade. But because we believe in Green Smoothies and want people to approach them with an open mind and be won over completely by the taste rather than the colour, we filled the smoothie into green glass.

Why did you put so much fruit in the Green Smoothies?

Have you ever drunk a Green Smoothie with 50% greens and 50% fruit and actually liked it? If so: respect – you veggie brother/sister! If not: soulmate – we totally get you. A mix that hardcore really is too much. That’s why we add a decent portion of fruit to our Green Smoothies and offer a kind of “Green Smoothie light”, for everyone who wants to give it a go, can’t be bothered to chop things themselves and finally wants to drink Green Smoothies that actually taste good.

What do true fruits Green Smoothies taste like?

Our Green Smoothies contain a fine blend of fruit and greens. Sure, the veg leaves a slightly tart, grassy note. But the fruit makes for a well-balanced fruit-and-greens flavour. And that’s pretty delicious – if you ask us!

Questions about upcycling

What is upcycling?

What-the-fruit is upcycling?! By definition, upcycling means giving old things or even rubbish a new lease of life, or making beautiful new things out of them. Bingo! Because although our glass bottles can be 100% recycled if you put them in the bottle bank, many people find them simply too beautiful to throw away. So to give the bottle a life after the last sip, we’ve been working on the topic of upcycling for quite a while. By now, the pictures from lots of creative upcyclers have even turned into a whole gallery – with fabulous ideas for reusing our bottles. And if bird feeders, soap dispensers, bottle flower shelves or true fruits bottle lamps (building instructions available on request at upcycling@true-fruits.com) are too much for you, or if you think DIY is a new panting technique for hot yoga, why not drop by our upcycling shop.

What’s the difference between upcycling & recycling?

Recycling means processing waste so it can be used for its original purpose or for other purposes. Upcycling, on the other hand, means upgrading the original product for a completely new purpose, far removed from what the product was originally for. For example, an old smoothie bottle becomes a pretty salt shaker.

Why are your bottle attachments so expensive?

Expensive is relative. Our bottle attachments are custom-made, developed specially for our bottles. We chose rustproof stainless steel to guarantee that the attachments last a lifetime.

Since we didn’t know at first how our bottle attachments would go down with customers, we only produced a small quantity to begin with. Producing 2,000 attachments is much more expensive per unit than producing, say, 50,000 (economies of scale). The same goes for our – if we say so ourselves – really beautiful packaging, which, by the way, is 100% recyclable.

The workload, wages, sample costs and so on from 3 years of development (Really! Three years!) aren’t even factored into our costing and the resulting prices.

Are your attachments dishwasher-safe?

We recommend washing them by hand. To do this, remove all the silicone parts and use a drop of washing-up liquid and a little hot water.

My attachment isn’t what I expected. What should I do?

First of all, that’s a shame. For the further development of our attachments, we’d be interested to know what exactly you don’t like or maybe even think is rubbish. You’re welcome to send your attachment back to us at your own expense. As soon as the item arrives, we’ll start refunding the purchase price.

How can I use the true fruits bottle if I don’t want to buy any bottle attachments?

Even with the metal lid that comes screwed on when you buy it, you can repurpose the bottle as a flower vase, for storing muesli, as a rolling pin or – with a bit of work – as a lamp. You’ll find more upcycling ideas here.

I have another question about upcycling and would like to get in touch.

You can reach us by phone on +49 228 38 73 30 or drop us an email at upcycling@true-fruits.com

Questions about orders

Can I order from this website?

Not from the English version, unfortunately. We don’t currently sell internationally, so there’s no online shop on this site – it’s here to tell you all about us and our products.

Where can I order your bottle attachments?
Our bottle attachments and upcycling products are available in our online shops for Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain and France. Customers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland order via our German website; customers in Spain and France via our Spanish or French website. Just switch to the right version using the language selector at the top of the page.
Can I order your smoothies, shots or NoLemonade online?

Nope – our drinks need to be kept chilled, so you won’t find them in our online shop. You’ll find them in the chiller cabinets of selected supermarkets instead. Check out our stockists page to find out where.

Questions about Ginger Shots

What is a ginger shot?

Ginger shots are made from pressed ginger root, often mixed with citrus fruit. Thanks to the hefty dose of ginger, ginger shots give you a fresh start to the morning!

Do the upcycling attachments fit the little ginger shot bottles?

Yes! The openings of the ginger shot bottles have the same diameter as those of our 250 ml smoothies, so our spice grinder, for example, also fits on the little ones.

Why do the shots contain agave syrup?

Agave syrup is a natural sweetener, so it replaces the sweetness of sugar without using refined sugar. For us, a ginger shot always needs a bit of sweetness, otherwise it burns too much and you turn into a fire-eater when you drink it. We chose agave syrup because it keeps the ginger shot vegan and tasty. You’ll find more information on this in our fruit encyclopaedia. ;)

Are the ginger shots gluten-free?

Yes! Just like all our smoothies and juices, the ginger shots contain absolutely no gluten!

Why are there no bottle texts on the ginger shots?

Unfortunately, the cute 99 ml ginger shot bottles are too small for bottle texts. But hey – you’ll find our bottle texts on all our other products instead!

Why did you go for 99 ml?

For just one little sip, the packaging & transport simply aren’t worth it! So we decided to split the ginger shot into three servings. One serving is 33 ml. By the way, the line on the bottle shows you where one serving ends.

Why only 20–30% ginger?

We decided to make our ginger shot a little milder, so we deliberately used this amount of ginger – that way, even your granny can give it a try. So if you find our ginger shots too hot, you’re a total wimp!

Where can I buy them?

You can buy the ginger shots in supermarkets such as Edeka or Rewe. You’ll also find all our points of sale at a glance on our stockists page. Click here!

Questions about the Vitamin B Shot

Does the Vitamin B Shot contain ginger?

No! There’s no ginger in our Vitamin B Shot. Unlike our two ginger shots – Ginger Shot yellow and Ginger Shot red – we deliberately left out the ginger in this one. Thanks to the lemon, lime and apple it contains, among other things, our Vitamin B Shot tastes sweet and sour.

Why have you brought out another shot alongside the ginger shots?

We still can hardly believe it, but some people actually find our ginger shots too hot! But to be honest, we didn’t launch a new shot for these – erm … pretty special people. We did it 1. because we’re always up for new products and 2. because we’re not exactly role models ourselves when it comes to getting enough vitamins and minerals every day. As you can see, we launched the Vitamin B Shot completely selflessly, so that we can knock back endless shots in the office and then kid ourselves that we’re in control of our lives.

How much vitamin B does the Vitamin B Shot contain, and what percentage of my daily requirement does it cover?

There isn’t just one vitamin B – there are loooads of different B vitamins. Ours contains: B1 (thiamine), B3 (niacin), pantothenic acid (B5), vitamin B6, biotin (B7) and B12.

It also contains magnesium and vitamin C. All the vitamins and minerals listed are dosed to cover 75% of the reference intake for an adult per day.

Why is the Vitamin B Shot so sour?

Because sour makes you happy, and we like happy people! No, joking aside (okay, it wasn’t that funny). In our opinion, shots have to be hot, spicy, sour or extreme in some way – otherwise they wouldn’t be shots, they’d just be “normal” fruit smoothies. We love our little shots, and – as in the case of the Vitamin B Shot – they’re allowed to be a bit on the sour side.

Where does the Vitamin B Shot get its pink colour from?

The intense pink colour comes from pink dragon fruit. It contains high levels of natural beta-carotene and betalain, which are responsible for the intense colour – without any artificial frills (tbh, we had to google the beta stuff. We’re not a pharmaceutical company, after all!).

Do the bottle attachments fit the Vitamin B Shot too?

Yes, the attachments for the 250 ml and 99 ml bottles also fit the Vitamin B Shot. The shot also holds 99 ml and therefore has the same thread size, which is compatible with the attachments for our 250 ml bottles.

Questions about NoLemonade

What is NoLemonade?

NoLemonade isn’t a protein drink that pumps up your already massive muscles even more. Nor is it an energy drink that gives you wings. Our NoLemonade is simply a refreshing drink that tastes good and that you can enjoy in any situation – a fun drink, basically.

Is true fruits NoLemonade vegan?

Yes. Our smoothies, shots and our NoLemonade are 100% vegan. To make our NoLemonade, we only use fully ripened fruit that never comes into contact with animal products like gelatine or similar.*

*In the industry, using pork gelatine to clarify fruit juices is a common and approved practice. We don’t do it!

What is calamansi?

Calamansi sounds like a Spanish holiday resort where you get painful sunburn and most likely a touch of alcohol poisoning too. But in reality, Calamansi isn’t an overcrowded tourist hotspot – it’s an exotic citrus fruit. It comes from China and is a cross between mandarins and kumquats. Don’t ask what kumquats are, mate. We can’t explain the whole world in our FAQs! Calamansi tastes a lot like mandarin but also has a slightly bitter note.

Why do you sell NoLemonade in 330 ml bottles?

We just thought a fun drink of only 250 ml was a bit on the small side. If you want to quench your thirst, you need a bit more. So we’re bringing out NoLemonade in 330 ml bottles.

Is true fruits NoLemonade healthier than comparable products on the market?

Compared with other fun drinks like lemonades or iced teas, NoLemonade actually has a low sugar content at 7 g per 100 ml. Most lemonades contain 8–12 g of sugar per 100 ml, and iced teas come in at 6–10 g of sugar per 100 ml. We’ve sweetened all our flavours with agave – you’ve got to have a bit of fun!

Why doesn’t true fruits use returnable bottles?

Returnable or deposit bottles don’t make sense for us yet, either ecologically or economically. We’d have to have our specially designed bottles collected from supermarkets all over Germany by a specially hired logistics company and brought back to us.

Can I drink your NoLemonade during pregnancy?

First of all, congratulations! Now comes a time when you’ll have to give up a few fun things: alcohol, cigarettes, raw mince rolls. But there’s one thing you don’t have to give up: our NoLemonade, because it’s gently pasteurised.

As always, the same goes for our NoLemonade: true fruits – no tricks. Because no concentrates, preservatives, artificial colourings or stabilisers go into our bottles.

What can I do if something settles in the NoLemonade?

Because we don’t use stabilisers and only natural ingredients go into our beautiful glass, fruit purée can sometimes settle at the bottom of the NoLemonade bottle too. It doesn’t always look sexy, but it’s perfectly harmless. If you shake the bottle (which is easy to do, because NoLemonade is still), the settled fruit will mix back in.

Please don’t bang on the lid! This can cause a so-called “mousehole” in the glass bottle and the bottle can burst – a cute word for such a big mess. Broken glass might bring luck, but the NoLemonade would end up all over you and the floor. That would be a shame – both for the NoLemonade and for the white socks you’ve so boldly paired with sandals.

Why is true fruits NoLemonade so expensive?

Expensive, schmexpensive – don’t get cheeky! No, but seriously: with our NoLemonade, too, product quality comes first. Apart from the water (okay, for once that’s not exotic, but it’s needed as the base for our NoLemonade), we only use the best fruit, ripened right to the end on the tree or bush so it tastes seriously good. Believe us: we’re pretty picky and taste our products regularly to make sure we always get the maximum flavour out of them and onto the market. Packaging is a quality factor for us too. That’s why we bottle our NoLemonade in the best-quality packaging material there is: glass. It seals everything in tight, like a safe. That means the bottle doesn’t give off any flavour or absorb any. With its simple but beautiful ceramic print, our packaging costs about 5x as much to produce as a PET bottle or a Tetra Pak carton.

Why isn’t your fruit organic?

Our fruit isn’t organically certified, because organic doesn’t always mean the fruit actually tastes better. In everything we do, taste comes first. But we’re also extremely strict about quality, because after all, we knock back our drinks all the time ourselves. That’s why all our suppliers have strict instructions from us not just to meet the legal limits, but to achieve considerably lower values.

Why do you use still water rather than sparkling water for your NoLemonade?

We kept (bitterly) burping because almost every fucking drink has bubbles in it. WHY?! So that we’d finally have something tasty and still to knock back, we – selfless as we are – developed a NoLemonade without bubbles. Awesome! Because without fizz, it’s so much easier to pour down your parched throat. NoLemonade, NoFizz, NoBurp!

Where can I buy true fruits NoLemonade?

Our NoLemonade is currently available in three different flavours at Rewe, and only in Germany.

You’ll also find all our points of sale at a glance on our stockists page. Click here!

Will you keep NoLemonade in your range, and is there a way to order it?

Yes, NoLemonade is staying in the range! But you can only buy it in shops. We don’t have a warehouse sale or an online shop for our drinks.

Why does NoLemonade contain agave syrup?

A “real” lemonade contains a lot of sugar. It may be unhealthy, but unfortunately it also tastes really good! As with our other products, we wanted to do without industrially processed sugar, so we sweeten our NoLemonade with agave. After all, you need a bit of sweetness – even in a NoLemonade!

Do the bottle attachments fit the NoLemonade bottles too?

No! Our 330 ml bottles, which we use exclusively for NoLemonade, have a slightly larger opening than our smoothie and shot bottles. We haven’t developed any bottle attachments specifically for NoLemonade yet.
